Bronze Age Spear Head
Bronze Age, c.1150-930 BC
The largest known example of an exceptionally rare Bronze Age ceremonial spear-type, remarkably preserved with its original wooden shaft.
Dating to the Late Bronze Age, this elegant spearhead belongs to a highly sophisticated type known from only a handful of discoveries in northern France and Britain. Cast in bronze and retaining the original wooden shaft and bark binding, it offers an extraordinary glimpse into the warrior elite of prehistoric Europe.1
The original wooden shaft radiocarbon dated to 1201-986 BC, aligning it with the spear’s typological date range, 1150-930 BC.
Now in the collection of the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
