Allosaurus jimmadseni

Late Jurassic, 157-152 million years before present

One of the most impressive fossil presentations that has ever appeared on the market, preserving the finest known skull of the iconic apex predator of the Jurassic.

Regarded as the finest example known to exist, this extraordinary skull belonged to Allosaurus jimmadseni, a rare species of the apex predator that dominated the floodplains of the Morrison Formation. Remarkably complete and preserved with exceptional symmetry, it surpasses many great examples in the most celebrated museum collections, including the famous “Big Al” specimens. Extensively researched by ArtAncient, the skull preserves the elegant architecture, recurved teeth, and distinctive cranial crests that made Allosaurus one of the most formidable hunters of the Jurassic Period.

This piece is now in a Private Collection.
