Rare Orientated Shooting Star Meteorite. A rare, orientated 'shooting star' meteorite, an unclassified chondrite, found in North Africa. Formed during the early solar system, around 4.6 billion years before present. Nearly all meteorites tumble and spin as they enter Earth’s atmosphere but, very occasionally (less than 1%), one will keep the same orientation during its flight. The long impressions, bubbling and flow lines on this sculptural specimen were caused as material streamed off its molten surface as it blazed through the sky. An amazing object.
