We are pleased to announce that we will be exhibiting at TEFAF Maastricht for the first time from 16 to 24 March.

  • BRAFA 2019

We are to excited to be returning to BRAFA for a second year in January with a new exhibition showcasing sculptural objects of natural beauty and well provenanced antiquities.

  • 'Maker Unknown' at Masterpiece

Our exhibition at Masterpiece, 'Maker Unknown', was very well received and often cited in publications as being one of the most engaging and exciting at the Fair.

In the ancient world, objects of natural history were often associated with the gods and in some cases, worshipped in temples. Today they are understood in scientific terms.

We wondered what would happen if we looked at natural history through the ancientsʼ lens, one in which we attribute a ʻmakerʼ to each object. Would we look at a meteorite, a fulgurite, a palm frond differently? Would we notice and admire their sculptural forms, colours and textures? Would we have an emotional response?

And what of the objects made by the ancients themselves? Corrosion, fragmentation and reinterpretation have altered them. They are no longer seen as their unknown maker intended.

We were highlighted in the following publications:

    Culture Whisper
    Harper's Bazaar
    The Financial Times
    Süddeutsche Zeitung
    Il Sole 24 Ore

  • Natural History for Art Collectors

We were recently featured in the Financial Times as dealers of 'spectacular natural objects', many of which we will be exhibiting at Masterpiece (28th June- 4th July) in our exhibition 'Maker Unknown'.

  • Masterpiece 2018

We are pleased to announce that we will be exhibiting at Masterpiece London for the first time from 28th June to 4th July.

  • 'Connections' at BRAFA

'Connections', our exhibition at BRAFA in which we paired seventeen objects with seventeen coins, was designed to be engaging and informative for both collectors and the general public. The stand was the subject of numerous tours and was popular with visitors throughout the duration of the fair. We were also featured and mentioned in the following publications:

    • The Financial Times
    • Forbes
    • Architectural Digest
    • Apollo
    • The Art Newspaper
    • The Antiques Trade Gazette
    • Le Quotidien de l’Art
    • Die Welt
    • Paris Match
    • Collect

  • Connections

For our first display at BRAFA, we will be presenting ‘Connections’, an exhibition which explores objects’ stories through their surprising connections with coins. Seventeen objects are paired with seventeen coins sharing visual, symbolic and historical connections. The display is designed to be engaging and enrich the visitor’s experience.

As dealers, we’ve always enjoyed anecdotes relating to our objects, so we felt it would be fun to share these snippets of information at a fair like BRAFA, with its focus on connoisseurship, to encourage people to look closer at works of art.

The display includes the oldest item ever shown at BRAFA; an extraordinary, sculptural meteorite, which predates the formation of our planet. The image on a little-known coin placed directly underneath proves that our fascination with these beautiful, otherworldly objects goes back millennia: a four-horse chariot tows the famous meteorite of Emesa to Rome exactly 1800 years ago.

Sometimes coins show subtle changes in artistic style, and through comparison, help us date important objects and appreciate rare styles. Other times, they boast of conquest, the effects of which can be seen in the region’s artistic traditions centuries later. Whether the connection is academic or whimsical, the aim of the exhibition is to engage visitors and to encourage them to see objects in a new light.
