A rare ancient European Bronze Age Urn, probably from Romania, dating to approximately 1200 BC.
The prehistoric ceramic vessel has been burnished to give a wonderful luster and is incised throughout with geometric decoration. It sits on a stub base with high-bellied, globular body and thick, flaring lip with perforation, presumably for hanging against a wall. Four rudimentary effigies, probably representing horned Gods, adorn the sides of the vessel.
Height: Just over 6 1/2 inches.
Maximum Diameter: 6 1/2 inches.
Condition: Restoration to the lip and neck. A small hole in the body repaired.
