Cypro-Archaic Amphora - 700 BC

A Cypriot amphora, dating to the Cypro-Archaic period, circa 700 - 600 BC.

With splayed foot and wide voluminous body, rounded shoulders, cylindrical neck and two double strap handles. Richly decorated with bands of red, and black pigment, the upper shoulders with squares, semi-circles, arrows and swastikas, the neck with a zigzag band.

A finely preserved, vibrant example of Cypro-Archaic craftsmanship.
