Western Jin Pottery Exorcist Figure - 300 AD. A very rare and large ancient Chinese figure of an exorcist or warrior, dating to the Western Jin dynasty, 265 – 316 AD. Western Jin terracotta figures such as this are some of the most distinctive mingqi known from ancient China. With his fierce, powerful pose, clenched teeth and long shield, this warrior is an exceptional example. Western Jin figures such as this are rarely found on the market. Even rarer are examples surviving with their original shield, and free of deceptive restorations. Compare an example currently on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London - here.
