Silver Tetradrachm from Syracuse - 415 BC

A rare silver tetradrachm from Syracuse, Sicily, circa 415 - 405 BC. 

The front of the coin with a racing four horse chariot, the driver pulling at the reins, the goddess Nike descending from the heavens with a laurel wreath.

The back of the coin with the head of the water nymph Arethusa, her hair tied with a ribbon, loose curls escaping from the top, four dolphins circling around her.
