Seleucid Tetradrachm of King Antiochus VIII Grypos - 121 BC

A fine portrait coin minted under the Seleucid King Antiochos VIII Epiphanes, (Grypos) "The Illustrious, (Hook nose)". Issued at the Antioch mint, during Antioch's fourth reign, circa 108 - 96 BC.

The obverse with a bold portrait of Antiochus, shown with curly hair and diadem.

The reverse with Zeus enthroned, holding sceptre and eagle. The inscription reading:

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟΥΣ 

"Of King Antiochus"

PE monogram above A in left field.
